About

The Florentine Codex, a sixteenth Century Mexican Indian manuscript, contains information regarding the life and culture of the Aztecs before the Conquest of New Spain by the Spanish. I examined the actual three volume work several times in the course of my MA research (a thesis completed under the supervision of Dr. Emily Umberger of Arizona State University) as well as afterwards. It is a remarkable document, both for what it contains and as an object in and of itself - my impression is that it could be better known to the general public and better utilized as an object of research. The idea behind this site is that it will provided the basis for its dissemination.
